TKW is in the world! Now what?

Hi there!

The King's Weapon has been out for over two weeks now! And let me tell you, marketing blows. But in all honesty, I am so thankful for all of the support I have received so far. Now, for some highlights (and lowlights?) from the past two weeks:

• I'm working on getting TKW into bookstores, specifically indie bookstores. (It may or not be coming to Ann Arbor soon ♥︎)

• I have signed (and shipped!) my first copies of TKW. This seems like such a small thing, but signing those books and shipping them out t

o both familiar faces and strangers made it feel that much more real. (There are still some available on my Etsy shop here!)

• I got my first negative review! No surprise here. Not every book is meant for every reader, and that is okay. Personally, I hope TKW will be my "worst" book. After all, it's my first published book. I still have a lot to learn about my craft, style, and audience.

Other Updates

• I had the opportunity to hear V.E. Schwabs speak about The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue and her writing process. Truly inspiring. So many takeaways from this talk that I can't even begin to put them into words!

• The first draft of Book 2 in Of Fire and Lies is almost done! Is it a hot mess? Yes. Am I eager to be done so that I can revise? Also yes. Was I also impatient and put up a placeholder page for book 2 on my website? Yes again. You can see an expected timeline for book two here.

A title reveal may be in the near future...

Recent & Current Reads

Last month, I was on a HUGE fantasy kick, so I changed it up and switched to RomComs.

If you're looking for a good small-town romance, the Knockemout series is a good place to start. I thoroughly enjoyed both books and read them within a week.

---

Currently, I am reading A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, a YA suspense/thriller novel.

Normally, this genre is not my cup of tea. However, I was recently reminded that reading outside your preferred genres helps build your craft. And so far, I am enjoying it!

Reviews matter so much for indie authors!

If you have read TKW,

I would greatly appreciate it if you left a review on Amazon!

(You know, to help the algorithm...)
